REFORM Alliance and BSE Global to Host Job Fair at Barclays Center on Monday, March 20
BROOKLYN – REFORM Alliance will host its first Brooklyn Job and Opportunity Fair at Barclays Center on Mon., March 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. The event – hosted in partnership with the Joe and Clara Tsai Foundation’s Social Justice Fund and BSE Global, parent company of Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty – is open to the public, however there will be an emphasis on connecting employers with individuals who have been impacted by the criminal justice system.
The event will feature recruiters from both local businesses and national corporations who are hiring for hundreds of open positions at all levels. Employers span industries including manufacturing, food service, customer service, logistics, and more, with confirmed attendees including Amazon and CVS Health.
Additionally, representatives of community-based organizations, workforce development programs and re-entry organizations will be on-site to provide free career development resources and job readiness support. These resources will help those reentering the workforce overcome obstacles and barriers to employment. Resources will include:
● Record Sealing Education
● Resume-Building Resources and Interview Prep
● Professional Attire Advice
● Grooming and Styling Services
“We are excited to partner with REFORM, The Social Justice Fund and all the employers who have committed to providing resources to help overcome obstacles for employment,” said Jackie Wilson, Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for BSE Global. “This job fair is a chance to connect the Brooklyn community with leading organizations and create real opportunities for those currently looking for jobs.”
“The foundation for safe communities and a good economy is inclusion,” said Robert Rooks, CEO of REFORM Alliance. “Too often, jobs are out of reach for people impacted by our criminal justice system, creating an economic burden on individuals and their families. We must work to build pathways to work and wellbeing for all people, and we are thrilled to partner with REFORM Founding Partner Clara Wu Tsai and BSE Global to provide additional opportunities for the Brooklyn community, connect employers with talented people seeking employment, and advance local economic prosperity and public safety.”
The Brooklyn Job and Opportunity Fair is a key part of REFORM’s recent national expansion of its ongoing economic opportunity event series, which kicked off in 2021 and debuted its Philadelphia iteration last year at the Wells Fargo Center. In order to participate in the event, employers must be willing to commit to offering full-time positions that are primarily located in the state of New York. Prospective candidates must show proof of identification to enter the Barclays Center.
