BROOKLYN SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT NAMES FRED MANGIONE AS COMPANY’S FIRST-EVER CHIEF OF STAFF

Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment (BSE) has named Fred Mangione as the company’s first-ever Chief of Staff.

Having been with the organization for 16 years, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer (COO) since 2014, Mangione will continue to report directly to CEO Brett Yormark.

Mangione will work with Yormark on long-term strategic business planning across all BSE divisions, including teams, venues, content development, and new projects, as well as target growth and acquisition opportunities, some of which will be announced soon. Mangione will also serve as a liaison between Yormark and the company’s current businesses.

“We are very fortunate to have such a driven and seasoned executive as Fred who can immediately pivot into this tailor-made and much-needed position to support the company’s continued growth,” said Yormark. “As my business partner, Fred knows all intricacies of our company and demonstrates a proven ability to handle complex situations. His impact on the success of Barclays Center and the business of the Nets and the Islanders, as well as the planning for The New Coliseum, can’t be overstated. This position is a perfect fit for Fred and he will continue to flourish in this dynamic new role.”

“I am honored for this new opportunity and challenge,” Mangione said. “This is an ideal new position for me, not only in furthering my career goals, but also in supporting the company’s continued expansion. I am proud of where we have taken our sales and marketing strategy and I know that those areas are set for sustainable growth. I am looking forward to focusing my attention on the long-term strategic business planning of BSE.”

Mangione has leveraged his sales background and played a key role in the transformation of the Nets brand from New Jersey to Brooklyn, as well as the development of the Barclays Center brand and its programming franchises. Redefining the sales process, Mangione has taught his team to focus on branding and advertising strategy development, improving product messaging and driving sales across all marketing channels.

Mangione has been deeply involved in new business development and major programming decisions for Barclays Center and was instrumental in bringing the Islanders to Brooklyn. Under his leadership, Barclays Center has become a top U.S. venue for ticket sales revenue and tickets sold for all concerts, family entertainment, and non-tenant sports events.

Prior to becoming COO, Mangione served as Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Revenue Officer for the Brooklyn Nets and Barclays Center. He joined the Nets in 1999 as the Director of Ticket Sales.
